Summary Evaluation of Film Clips for Character Education

Students are excited to see the Film Clips. They relate to the movie clips and easily share their thoughts and feelings when challenged with the question at the end of each film clip. During classroom discussions, teachers promote open lines of communication between all students. As the students share, the conversation of core essential character traits is infused throughout the school day. Moral and ethical values become a common concern for the school family on the playground, lunchroom, and the classroom. Student discipline records indicate the development of a positive school climate. Students understand the importance of self-monitoring their behaviors in a civil manner in order to promote a harmonious school environment and have developed advanced communication skills with staff members and/or administration, rather than pursuing aggressive behaviors. In so doing, Zane North School has become a fun, safe learning environment for students, staff, and administration.
Explanation of Survey Charts
At the top of each sheet you will find the week of implementation, title of the film clip, the character trait
...the first chart lists the grade (MDK is special education, Kindergarten through grade 6, we have two fifth grade classes) the next column is the number of students in each class...starting with "character trait in class" and the five categories students responded N not sure, S sometimes, A always (see bottom of chart), tallied together you will find the percent for each question..all three columns should total 100% for each of the six questions
...the second chart follows the same format as the first...this survey was completed by the teachers...the first column lists the class, the number of stuents and then six questions for the teachers...the teachers answered yes/or no to each question....the final tally is listed at the end of each question and totals 100%.Evaluation Survey Charts
